Duplicate Stores / Offerings Policy

To keep The Host Co’s platform fair, clean, and easy for buyers to use, hosts must follow this policy around duplicates. Duplicate or nearly identical offerings from the same store are not allowed under certain conditions.

What this policy means

  • A host may not publish more than one active store or offering that lists the exact same experience, service, or product at the same time.

  • Offers that are essentially identical (same items, same description, no meaningful differences) across more than one store or listing count as duplicates.

  • You also can’t list the same item in different categories or under different names if it’s really the same thing, just trying to get more visibility.

Situations & Exceptions

There are some permitted cases or nuances:

  • If a duplicate offering has already been sold or the first version has ended, then a second one can become active.

  • Standard or generic products (for example, basic household supplies) may be listed more than once only if they’re clearly differentiated by brand, model, or variation.

  • If your product or service is designed for different versions or models (for example, accessories for different devices, or service packages with different tiers), you may create separate offerings as long as each one is clearly defined for its intended use.

Why this is important

  • Prevents one host from flooding search results with identical offers.

  • Ensures buyers see a healthy variety of choices from many different hosts.

  • Improves the overall browsing experience by reducing repetitive content.

Consequences of violations

If your store/offering violates the duplicate policy, The Host Co may:

  • Remove or hide the redundant store or offering

  • Require you to merge similar offers into one, or update descriptions/titles to make them distinct

  • Reduce the visibility of your store on the platform

  • In repeated or serious cases, suspend your store
