How To Add SMS Notifications To Your Host Co Store

Lots of hosts have been asking us, “We get email notifications, but can we get text notifications?” Especially with our Request and Approve feature - where guests can request something and we hold their funds for 7 days to give the host time to approve, or else the order cancels - it can be essential to deliver these timely requests to you, the host, over text.

That's why we're excited to introduce this simple SMS integration for hosts to get notifications when their guests purchase or request items and services! How? By setting up email forwarding to SMS. We’ll walk you through step by step how to get your Host Co email notifications to go right to your texts.

Note: This is a simple workaround until our full SMS integration is live.

Step-by-Step Guide To Setting Up Email Forwarding To SMS:

  1. Identify Your SMS Gateway Address:

This sounds complicated, but it’s pretty simple. To forward your emails to your phone, you need to create an “email address” that’s made up of two parts: your phone number, and your carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc.)

    • For Verizon: [Your 10-digit phone number]@vtext.com

      • (e.g., 1234567890@vtext.com)

    • For T-Mobile: [Your 10-digit phone number]@tmomail.net

      • (e.g., 1234567890@tmomail.net)

    • For AT&T: [Your 10-digit phone number]@txt.att.net

      • (e.g., 1234567890@txt.att.net)

    • If you have another carrier, consult Wikipedia for a broader list of SMS Gateway addresses.

  2. Add your SMS email address to your product’s notifications in your Host Co store.

With the “email address” you created in Step 1, you’re going to enter that into every product in your Host Co store you want notifications from. Then, whenever a guest purchase or requests to purchase it, you will be notified in your email!

First, click on the product in your Host Co store, then click “Product Settings.” Then enter your SMS email address below:

Then, click “Add,” and “Save Changes.” And you’re all set!

With these steps, you'll be efficiently notified of guest requests directly on your phone, enhancing your responsiveness and guest satisfaction. Keep an eye out for more updates from The Host Co in the coming days!
